Jon's original version of "Hollywood 7" is the best! Here's another version I found on the internet a long time ago 2012 to be exact. It was made by German MT. From the site: "And we continue with gifts for the blog, based in Madrid, and was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the DJ and producer Dynamicron aka Roberto Marrero, a specialist renowned worldwide, edit brings us a very special, a w...

I was always a Rock fan and never really liked Country Music until I heard Gram Parsons long after his passing, and he never was better than when singing with EmmyLou Harris. And just as a bonus, Gram tought the Rolling Stones a lot about Country music, especially with his close friend Keith Richards.
Stunning performance ❤ gave me goosebumps and got teary! Absolutely wonderful!🎉
First single I bought…I’m 60
Ol black eyes. Awesome live.
What a LOSS to music Gram
I don't care, it's canon.
I love the performance and the way they improvise more physical humor into it!
😂❤love the way Jon,Simon and Toni struggle to not totally crack up in these songs and scene!!
An ancestor of mine was involved in the convict uprising, Analsdark, a trooper who chased down an escaped convict on horseback. That's how accurate the story was to the true history of early Australia
Gram was just the greatest. As with Kennedy, you will always remember the moment you heard of his passing. I was fortunate to see the Burritos a couple of times in Scotland in the mid 70's and Chris Hillman in Leeds a few years later but I regret never getting the opportunity to see the greatest of them all.
Jon English wasn't just one of Australia's top rock stars, he was also a fantastic musical theatre performer and actor. Never forgotten and always remembered very fondly with respect.
I remember mum putting on her VHS of this for me when I was like 3-4, I thought it was the funniest thing in the world, obviously not the words, but just seeing the exhaustion
I've watched this production more than once (on UA-cam). It was a rip-roaring success. I must be biased. No other production is so full of fun and energy. Well, maybe there is, but I've not seen it.😍😂😂😂🥰
This looks very much like a recording of my first ever musical when I was just 8! 🤯 What a find! Pirates of Penzance in 1984 at the Melbourne Concert Hall. The cast included Jon English, Simon Gallaher, David Atkins, June Bromhill, Marina Prior, John Wood, Fiona Hallett, Anna Butera , Tom Blair. An AMAZING cast full of the future big names in Australia's musical theatre and live theatre performance industry!

0:54 La opera es mañana
Jon English was an amazing talent who possessed this amazing voice and presence, the whole package. Miss you Jon❤
If your criteria for a Gilbert & Sullivan performance is based on the operatic quality of the singing and the merciless adherence to the original production values, then you might enjoy other performances more. The movie production with Linda Ronstadt, Keven Kline, Rex Smith, Tony Azito, George Rose comes to mind. The choreography in "Tara Tara" is especially good. That said, the absolute joy and fun in this performance with the "fourth wall" interactions with the conductor and the audience, the way that Jon English absolutely *owned* this production in every scene in which he appeared, the liberties taken with the way it was "supposed" to be done, these things make this the greatest ever performance of Pirates IMHO.
Some of the modern day streaming channels really ought to pick up all these really great classic TV series like "Against the Wind " - others would be the US series "Roots" and "Centennial" ( called "The Colorado Saga" where I live 😉) . Any other recommendations?
This great classic Australian TV series was also hugely popular here in Scandinavia, where it has been rerurn several times on Danish TV as well as on some TV-channels in our neighbour countries ( which we can also watch ), so I must have watched it at least 6 times or so 😉 The characters felt so real that you really cared for them and suffered with them in their hardships - as well as wanting to beat certain other characters up 😂 And the wonderful music still echoes in my head to this day, where I will often catch myself humming,, whistling and even singing this theme song / intro tune.
Loads of fun and energy! 🙂
The opera, it’s tomorrow night! 0:54
Now listen. I was born in 81. There are pictures of me watching the Pirates of Penzance movie with Kevin Kline when I was a toddler. I have seen that movie probably more than a hundred times and basically have it memorized. I’ve seen it live a few times but always, always there was only one Pirate King for me and that was Kevin Kline. That’s still true but you have to realize how absolutely fabulous Jon English is in this role for me to even have enjoyed watching him in it not just once but I continue coming back just to see Jon.
Kevin Kline. THE Pirate King.
Still the best version for me!
I think that Pirates prove , if men didn't have women to approve our dress sense we would dress in big leather boots, purple pants and bandanas !
Sorry it wasn't a musician, it was the drummer ! hahaha !!!
If he hadn't od'd first, he would have taken Emmylou down with him and we would have lost a greater talent with her head screwed on straight.
I don't think she would ever have gotten into drugs and booze. She's a strong woman. I think it's quite possible she could have helped him stabilize his life. She thinks so too.
Jon and The Foster Brother's didn't get the notoriety they deserved look at that Passion Stage Presence and Skill baci x
This is so fantastic baci x
Glömmer ej denna serie.
Only Marvin & Tammi were a more beautiful duet. This is magical.
Grams song about Sin City was all truth. Emmyliu has sungveith some greats, Mark Knopfler,John Prine, Will The Circle Be Unbroken, 1989 2nd release, with top country greats.
i saw this perforncece when i was 8 years ojd it lr ft spell bould thanks jon
From the moment I first heard and saw him, still the best.
LOVE this. ❤❤❤
These two are superb together. Check you've lost that loving feeling Superb!!
Is this the Australian musical of Jesus Christ superstar with Stevie Wright playing the part of Simon in it? I would like to watch it. They said that he was great 👍👍👍. 🎉🎉🎉
We all grew up with him and now we can enjoy his masterpiece
I saw this production when it was in Melbourne and I fell in love with theatre.
Gone too soon 🥲
That voice! Pure joy, just like his smile! ❤
Loved this show. Reminds me of outlander..
Excellent song. Emmy Lou has such a beautiful voice. Didn't Lucinda Williams also do a recording of this song? Great lyrics.
love this version!!
Pure joy!Thank you Sir and R.I.P.
Equally as dreadful as his HMS Pinafore. At least we didn't have the ugly sisters appearing in this one..
I remember being back stage when he played in innisfail after cyclone lary and he mistook me for his son
I love this
Jon English was as good as Anthony Warlow and Kevin Kline
